Stillbirth Resources

When I was laboring in the hospital, the bereavement counselor on staff gave us a book titled Empty Arms. This book was extremely helpful before Shepard was born and the days following. It told us to think about how we wanted to spend our time with our son. Did we want to dress him, bathe him etc.?

It presented bonding opportunities to consider that we probably would not have thought of. We had the honor of meeting the author, Sherokee Ilse, at Scottsdale Healthcare's Annual Walk to Remember for Pregnancy and Infant loss. She is an amazing woman who has suffered several losses herself and has dedicated her life to helping people like us who have also lost children. Her books are extremely helpful.
